    Adult JIU – JITSU

    Description

    • Gi and No Gi Classes focused on Graci Barra Brizalian Jui Jitsu.
    • All experience levels welcome.
    • Open to both Men and Women 13 years and older.
    • Gi Classes are an hour and half long and held 3 times a week [link to calender].
    • No Gi Classes are an hour and half long and held 2 times a week [link to calender].

    Gi

    Gi classes focus on techincal submissions while wearing the official Kimono uniform.

    No Gi

    No Gi classes forucus on submission grapphing with or without MMA ground and pound.


    Adult MMA

    Description

    • Teach grappling techniques for standing and on ground game using a varity of fighting skills from martial arts to non martial arts.
    • Classes are 1 hour long and head 4 time a week. [Link to Calender]

    • Open to both men and women ages 13 years and up.

     

    “Adult Gi Jiu Jitsu”

    Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is an art based in ground fighting. Along with this, it teaches takedowns, takedown defense, ground control, and especially submissions. Submissions refer to holds that either cut off an opponent’s air supply (chokes) or look to take advantage of a joint (such as armbars).
    We are specialised in using the leverage of the body to move the opponent and take advantage of the opponent’s strength to use against themselves. The use of grips and the GI (kimono) is a very important weapon to develop the techniques. Its possible to see the smaller controlling the Bigger person. Also very good for fitness, Stamina, weight loss, Self – confidence, self- esteem etc…
    The option of fighting while on our back on the mat in such an effective way,  is something that separates our art from most other grappling

    “Adult No Gi”

    No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu utilises the principles of BJJ – leverage, position, hip movement etc. – and employs a full range of BJJ submissions and defences but is trained without the jacket or ‘Gi’ uniform. This removes the option to take a hold of collars, sleeves and lapels and makes the art faster paced and more explosive.
    No-Gi BJJ is a great base for people wanting to compete in Mixed Martial Arts events and also helps develop a BJJ student’s game further, removing their reliance on clothing grips.

    “MMA”
    Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that incorporates a wide variety of martial arts techniques and strategies. Fighters with a strong background in one particular art can compete in MMA, although to fight at the highest levels of the sport it is seen as necessary to have a sound grasp of all three base arts – striking, jiu-jitsu and wrestling.
    The combat sport of Vale Tudo that had developed in Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the United States by the Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
    In due course the more dangerous Vale Tudo style bouts of the early UFCs were made safer with the implementation of additional rules, aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport, leading to the popular regulated form of MMA seen today.
    Training in MMA consists of technique drills and live sparring sessions, with classes emphasising both single arts and combinations of techniques from different styles.

    “Womens only Self Defense/Strength Conditioning
    All forms of grappling, particularly Jiu-Jitsu, are incredibly beneficial for women. Apart from the huge boosts to health, fitness and confidence that women gain from training,  there is no better way to learn to deal with the pressure of an attack than trying to apply your techniques against resistance while sparring on the ground.This class is designed to teach women only how to defend themselves along with getting the mind and body into total shape..a must for all women

     


    Mens and Womens Boot Camp

    Description

    • Open to all skill levels.
    • Open to both men and women 13 years and up.
    • Classes run up to 45 minutes long long 3 times a week. [Link to Calender]
    • The boot camp class provide an intense cardo and strength training work out.
    • This will help get and keep you in top shape for our BJJ or MMA classes.
    • Advance students classes will be for 45 minutes and 30 minutes for beginners.

    Kids Classes – Little Warriors

    ( Ages 4 to 13)

    Description

    Kids learn more than just martial arts while doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at SWF/NORTON BJJ. Martial arts teach valuable lessons that they will carry with them through the rest of their lives. Self-discipline and Focus. To master the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a student must pay attention and train diligently to perfect their technique.

    Respect For Their Teachers and Friends

    Martial arts instructors are in a unique position to teach children about respect and honor. Students must follow instructions and orders. A martial artist understands that training partners are there to learn and improve alongside them.

    Leadership and Team Spirit

    Training at swf/norton bjj, a child finds himself joining a team of successful martial artists, and as they move up the belt ranks they’ll find newest students looking to them for help and guidance.

    Responsibility and Self Control

    With the ability to fight and defend themselves comes the responsibility of using their knowledge wisely. In class, students learn how to apply techniques with control to ensure their training partners’ safety.

    Determination and a Will to Succeed

    There is no easy road to black belt. We can show them the way and encourage them, but your child must make the journey on their own two legs. Along the way, they will experience what it’s like to be tested and pushed to perform. Sparring and tournaments will expose your child to healthy competition and bring out the champion in them.

    The modern world bombards kids from every angle. TV, video games and the internet are all vying for their attention, each eager to fill your child’s head with their special agendas, ad campaigns and nonsense. Give your child a chance to unplug and really interact with fellow human beings.


    After School Pickup Program

    Description

    • Open to kids from age 4 and up.
    • Available 5 days a week during the school sessions.
    • We pickup at schools with in a 5 miles radius of the Gym.
    • The program hours are from 2:00PM to 5:15PM
    • The Gym is setup for open session to your son or daughter to practice their skills with other students
    • We also have homework area, if your son or daughter needs a place to work on their homework.
